
The UN General Assembly has removed Russia from membership in the Geneva-based Human Rights Council over its war against Ukraine.

In his speech before the vote, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya, likened the Human Rights Council to the Titanic. Kyslytsya explained that the council could only be saved from sinking by suspending Russia’s membership.
Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Gennady Kuzmin, has called on UN member states to oppose the move. “We reject the unfounded allegations against us.” said.
