The Football Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) has announced that Bayern Munich’s Canadian footballer Alphonso Davies has been named footballer of the year.
CONCACAF reports that the 21-year-old Ghanaian-born Canadian defender has been named footballer of the year. Davies played with the Canada National football Team at the FIFA World Cup CONCACAF Qualifier last year, scoring 5 goals in 13 games.
Davies, who has a heart condition after testing positive for COVID-19, has been off the fields since early January. The Canadian football player played his last match on December 17, 2021.
